WHAT WE DO

AMGTA

Let's Talk about What We Do

Additive manufacturing (AM), Additive manufacturing (AM), which includes 3D printing technologies, builds parts by successively adding material layer-by-layer into a final, or near final, condition. These processes are in contrast to traditional manufacturing technologies like machining, casting, and forging, in which material is removed from an item (subtractive manufacturing) or poured into a mold and shaped. AM in general results in less waste and greater efficiencies than conventional manufacturing, and in many cases can offer greater precision and uniformity.
The AMGTA seeks to educate the AM sector and the broader manufacturing industry about these positive environmental benefits, promote the adoption of AM as an alternative to traditional manufacturing, develop best practices for additive manufacturing, and help the organization’s members grow their businesses and acquire new customers.

WHERE WE ARE GOING

AMGTA Mission & Goals

  • Forum to guide the collective energy of like-minded organizations to drive the future of more sustainable manufacturing through the acceptance, adoption and promotion of additive practices.
  • Platform to collaborate on innovating better, more sustainable, and financially advantageous products through additive design and manufacture.
  • Commission member-collaborative, independently reviewed research to identify and better understand the environmental impacts of additive practices on the manufacturing cycle as well as the broader business case.
  • Raise awareness and increase adoption of additive practices as both a strategic business driver as well as a lever for sustainability to both manufacturing and sustainability audiences.
